Man Is Rude to Elderly Lady on Plane, Meets Her in His Boss’ Office Next Day

Karl’s business was about to reach new heights, and this only reinforced his growing arrogance. However, after mistreating a flight attendant on his flight to a life-changing meeting, Karl is ultimately humiliated.

Karl was a middle-aged man well on his way to the major leagues. His company was about to become a subsidiary of a large multinational.

Karl came from humble beginnings and worked his entire life to finally get to this point in his career. He was about to go to Chicago to sign his deal, and he was over the moon.

Karl had been waiting for this moment for a long time and he was determined to enjoy it as much as he could. He purchased a business class ticket to celebrate his new adventure.

His newfound success was starting to get to his head and Karl became a little reckless with his behavior and the way he treated people. As he sat in his business class seat, he pompously admired the view around him. It was his first time in business class.

“This is going to be one hell of a party,” he said to the man sitting next to him.

“Oh really!? What are we celebrating?” the man asked.

“I’m on my way to Chicago to sign the deal of my life. It’s definitely a champagne moment,” says Karl happily.

“Oh wow. It’s great. I’m happy for you,” the man said.

“What is that? Audacity! It takes you thirty minutes to bring me my champagne, and it’s hot!? Are you serious?”

“Hey! A chilled bottle of your best champagne! Karl barked at the flight attendant, snapping his fingers quite rudely.

“No problem, sir. I’ll take care of you in a second,” the flight attendant replied kindly.

Thirty minutes passed and Karl got angry because he still hadn’t received his order. The flight attendant finally arrived with Karl’s champagne, and Karl was not happy at all.

“So? What took you so long? I’ve been waiting for about half an hour? Karl barked at the flight attendant.

“I’m really sorry about that, sir. I had to deal with something in economy class, ”the flight attendant responded calmly.

“What is that? Audacity! It takes you thirty minutes to bring me my champagne, and it’s hot!? Are you serious?” » Karl snapped, pushing the bottle of champagne to the ground.

“I’m sorry, sir!” I just…” the flight attendant began nervously before being interrupted by an even more agitated Karl.

“Stop with the excuses!” Just do your job! I’m your boss here! Do you understand?” Karl barked, the rest of the passengers now watching his show.

As he walked towards the flight attendant, who was doing her best to hold back tears, an elderly woman, Anna, entered the business class cabins. Karl was surprised to see the CEO of the very company he was about to sign with. Anna walked straight to the flight attendant and greeted her warmly.

“Thank you for what you did for me,” Anna said.

“It’s not a problem. It was my pleasure,” the flight attendant said, faking a smile as she wiped away tears.

“Why are you crying?” » asked Anna, worried. Karl shifted uncomfortably to the side as the flight attendant turned to look at him, Anna following.

“Well, I think you should apologize to that young lady.”

“Um… Just… I just had a little disagreement with this gentleman here. That’s all,” the flight attendant said, doing her best to hide her pain and frustration.

“Karl?” What are the chances we are on the same flight? » said Anna, shocked to see Karl and curious to know what role he had to play in the flight attendant’s sudden sadness.

“Um…Anna, yes, it’s a surprise to see you here. Why are you in economy class? » Karl asked hesitantly.

“Well, it allows me to save money by donating to charity and other worthy causes. And you? Why are you making this woman’s job harder than it needs to be? I heard you from my section,” Anna said.

“Um… No, it’s just that it took her forever to bring me my champagne, and it was hot when it arrived. Poor service delivery,” Karl said, true to his arrogance.

“Well, I think you should apologize to this young lady. While you were waiting for your champagne, I had an asthma attack and she was kind enough to drop everything and take care of me. She saved my life,” Anna explained to Karl with firmness and conviction.

“You saved?” » asked a confused Karl.

“Yes, that’s what delayed your champagne. I’m sorry about that. But don’t be so rash as to ask people to do their jobs when you don’t understand the full scope of things. Consider it a advice from someone who would have been your boss,” Anna said.

“Um… ‘would have done it’, ma’am?” » Karl asked nervously.

“Karl…I have a lot of money, but what would I do with it if my life was in the hands of the flight attendant today? Never put yourself above others. You might need their help. Anyway, we will conclude this conversation in Chicago,” Anna said coldly before turning to the flight attendant with a smile. “And thank you again, my dear.”

“I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have treated you like that,” Karl told the flight attendant.

“It’s okay,” she replied.

Anna walked out of the business class section, leaving Karl completely perplexed. Karl became nervous about his contract when their flight finally landed in Chicago.

As fate would have it, Anna withdrew her offer to Karl’s company, and the deal never came to fruition.

What can we learn from this story?

  • Never put yourself above others. Karl’s arrogance led him to treat people badly, but it ultimately worked against him.
  • Kindness goes a long way. The flight attendant dropped everything to help Anna, and her kindness brought Anna to his defense later when Karl mistreated her.
